vs.

So the final episode of the White Rapper Show aired tonight and just when I was starting to have a little respect for the show, they go and name Shamrock the win over John Brown "King of the Burbz".
Don't get me wrong, I don't think that anyone of the 10 MC's would actually ever get discovered yet I found it interesting watching what they put these white rappers through so that they could get their couple of weeks of fame.
I thought that EgoTrip did a decent job of showing just how redicilious some of the overused stereotypes in hip-hop have become with some real knowledge about those same stereotypes. Such as I loved when Persia had to wear that big ass chain when she said "Nigga." By having to wear it, I believe she saw the type of weight that that one word carries. I loved all of those challenges where they had to be around an audience that wasn't feeling them or the idea of a white rapper. Even the way MC Serch broke down the whole "snitching," concept to my personal favorite Sullee when he said he was quiting because he didn't want to "snitch." I'm sorry but for 100 stacks I'd would have blazed everybody. It is a competition right?
Granted they did do the corny stuff as with most EgoTrip shows, but I liked a lot of the lessons they were teaching. But then they get to the finals and totally disappoint me. John Brown makes a lyrical song with deep content. Shamrock makes a club song that you can't even understanding what he's saying. I didn't like Shamrock from about the midway point, because his flow seemed a little forced. But when the A&R told Serch that it's not about being lyrical its about making songs, I thought, look at the message their sending to the future of hip-hop watching. A club banger with a catchy hook reigns supreme.
